Providers

Digital Glue

Information about working with Cardigan's Digital Glue integration.

Overview

Digital Glue is available as a default provider option immediately on Cardigan installation.

Digital Glue supports provisioning new digital gift cards, balance checks, transaction history, and redemption.

Two behaviours are particular to Digital Glue:

  • Scheduled delivery is handled by Cardigan. Where a customer selects a future delivery date for a digital gift card, Cardigan holds the card and provisions it at the appropriate time, rather than passing the delivery date through to the provider. See Gift card purchases for how the delivery date is captured.
  • Card numbers are searchable. Cardigan allows full card numbers to be searched from the admin for Digital Glue profiles, which makes reconciling a customer enquiry against an issued card considerably easier.

Setup

After installation, navigate to the "Profiles" section in your Cardigan settings and add a new "Digital Glue" gift card provider.

Credentials

Your Digital Glue API credentials will be provided to you by your point of contact at Digital Glue, if you don't already have them. You'll typically be issued a staging domain to validate your setup against, and a production domain to switch to once everything has been confirmed working.

There's no formal certification process to complete before going live - once you have credentials for the environment you're working against, you're ready to start testing.

Domain

The Digital Glue domain to connect to. Unlike most providers, Digital Glue issues each merchant their own domain rather than offering a shared list of endpoints.

Enter the raw domain on its own, without a protocol or path - for example merchant.dgenginesuat.com.au. There's no reliable naming pattern across merchants or environments, so use exactly the domain you've been given.

Username

Your Digital Glue API username.

Password

Your Digital Glue API password.

Configuration options

Currency

The currency that cards issued against this profile are denominated in.

Default card design

The SKU to be used when provisioning newly purchased cards.

API Alias

An identifier sent with each request to Digital Glue. Will default to UNKNOWN if left blank.

Store Channel Code

The channel code sent with each request, identifying where the transaction originated. Will default to WEB if left blank.

Refund behaviour

Unlike some other providers, Digital Glue profiles don't expose a refund behaviour setting - no action is taken by Cardigan when a refund is created against a Digital Glue redemption.

If you need refunds to issue a new card or return funds to the original card, please contact support to discuss your requirements.

Usage

Once the Digital Glue profile is set up and configured, you can add Cardigan's front end widgets to your store and test flows like balance lookups, purchases and redemptions.

Because Digital Glue supports provisioning, you can issue your own test cards rather than requesting them from your point of contact. Place a test order for a gift card product against your staging profile, and the card Cardigan provisions can then be used to exercise the balance check and redemption flows.
